Baby Cloth Diapers

Modern baby cloth diapers are quite different then the infamous flat cloth that was once folded and pinned to form a diaper.  There are many different kinds of diapers that are made from an array of different types of cloth.  Most diapers have many layers and modernly have buttons or elcro to attach them, instead of the use of pins.  There are many brands of diapers that even include elastic waist and leg bands to prevent leaking that once was a common problem.  Newer models of diapers are easy and convenient and there are many different colors and prints.    There are now even cloth diapers that are adjustable so that they can still fit your child as they grow.

Baby cloth diapers are also much more comfortable for your baby when compared to disposable plastic diapers.  Cloth is, obviously, much more natural then plastic which gives it many advantages.  It allows more flexibility, more airflow, more room for growth and it is much softer on your baby’s bottom.  Because cloth diapers allow more natural air flow and absorption then disposable diapers babies who are diapered in cloth often have less severe diaper rash then babies diapered in plastic.  Equally cloth uses far less chemicals to produce then plastic.  Chemicals that are used in the production of common brands of disposable diapers have been shown to cause cancer, skin disease, liver damage and genetic deformation when absorbed in large doses.  When your child is in the earliest stages of their life their skin is super absorbent and these chemicals could greatly affect them.

Furthermore it is always cheaper to reuse items then to buy them new every time.  Most parents go through thousands of disposable diapers per child.  Often times less than a hundred baby cloth diapers are used per child.  Cloth diapers can last for years and can be used hundreds of times before they need to be replaced.  Close to 18 billion disposable diapers can be found in landfills throughout the United States every year.  So while disposable diapers may be easily disposed by parents after their child has soiled them they are not disposable to the environment.  Cloth diapers provide a way for parents to diaper their children in a way that is beneficial to the environment and promotes as little waste as possible.
