We even have great information on items you will need for proper care of cloth diapers like cloth diaper covers and cloth diaper pails.  ClothDiapers.net is not designed to promote any one product or method of use.  Our goal is to simply provide enough information that new parents will be able to make the best choice for their family.   There are many great benefits of using cloth diapers as opposed to disposable diapers!

Using cloth diapers will save you money!  On average every child will need at least 7 diaper changes a day until they are around the age of 3.  That is thousands of diaper changes!  When you are using disposable diapers that means that you will need thousands of diapers per child. Cloth diapers are extremely durable and can be used repeatedly, on average a parent who uses cloth diapers will only purchase 100 diapers and they can be used for multiple children.  Cloth diapers also help prevent diaper rash  because they promote natural airflow and complete moisture absorption.  Disposable diapers allow nearly no airflow and the moisture remains locked against your child’s bottom until they are changed.  Most importantly cloth diapers are extremely comfortable for your child.  There are many types of cloth diapers so each parent can find the best design for them.

Some of the best cloth diapers are referred to as the all in one diaper.  These diapers have multiple layers of soft fabric in the bottom of the diaper, creating a maximum absorption bad.  Around the legs and back of the diaper the layers are thinner and flexible and have elastic bands to help with comfort and slipping.  95% of these diapers can be help in place with buttons so there is no need for damaging diaper pins or clips.  If this diaper doesn’t sound like everything you would ever need in a diaper, there is more.  The outer layer of the diaper is made of a waterproof fabric cloth to replace the average cloth diaper covers.  This layer helps to further prevent leaking from within the diaper, and  comes in quite handy.

Another popular type of diaper is the traditional pre-fold type. You can purchase pre-fold diapers at any baby supply store.  They come in pre-cut rectangular cloth with multiple layers; the cloth can then be folded in an array of different ways to create a diaper.  Another benefit of pre-folds is that they can also be used as a changing cloth or a burp rag because they have no set shape.  You can find them with intricate printed designs or you can even find organic pre-folds made of 100% natural cotton.  Pre-folds are easy to launder and dry and are relatively inexpensive.

There are many other types of cloth diapers available from one size to pre-form.  Regardless of the type of diaper you choose you will most likely need a cloth diaper cover.  We have all seen disposable diapers and felt their plasticity which makes it possible to better control leaking.  However, cloth diapers don’t usually come with this plastic-like layer and often times with cloth leaking is a huge problem.  This is where cloth diaper covers come in handy.  You can purchase diaper covers in an array of sizes, colors and even thicknesses.  They are simply placed over the cloth diaper to provide an extra layer of protection and to help prevent leaks.  In addition they, along with the diapers, can be simply tossed into the washer and re-used over and over again.  There are two types of cloth diaper covers; fold and pull.  The fold diaper covers can simply be folded and snapped, or pinned, over the existing diaper.  A pull diaper cover simply pulls up over the legs and on top of the cloth diaper.

Perhaps the best benefit of using cloth diapers instead of disposable diapers is that you can find any type of cloth diaper made from 100% organic materials.  The skin of every newborn and toddler is super absorbent, and is prone to soaking in chemicals and minerals from the things that surround them.  Any type of inorganic cloth is made with an array of different chemicals and dyes before our children are exposed to them.  This could potentially cause much harm and damage to our children.  It has been proven that babies who have been exposed to only organic materials develop quicker and fuller then babies exposed to chemical filled materials.  Organic diapers, and other materials, are usually made from 100% organic cotton which is grown from natural cotton plants.
